Renault Russia was a Russian automotive company, part of the Renault group. Headquartered in Moscow, production facilities were located in Moscow and Togliatti. For 2015, it was included in the list of backbone organizations in Russia. Russia to launch Moskvich car production at former Renault plant in December 2022. Russian carmaker Avtovaz has completed the acquisition of RN Bank, a joint venture between Italian lender UniCredit and the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. Russia bought Renault’s plants for 1 cent, now wants $1.3 Billion to sell back.

Sell Renault Russia; transfer Moscow factory to city government and partner for local brand production. 03.06.2022: Full name changed from CJSC "RENO RUSSIA" to JOINT STOCK COMPANY "MOSKOVSKY AVTOMOBILINY ZAVOD "MOSKVICH". The French company sold its stake in Russia’s largest automaker for one ruble, with the option of returning within six years. Russian car dealers are suing Renault over the group's exit from the market. Renault does not rule out a return to Russia after the end of Russian military aggression in Ukraine. Luca de Meo says buying back a controlling stake in Avtovaz is not a priority, but it is open to potential business opportunities. AvtoVAZ CEO Maxim Sokolov named the condition for Renault's return: Renault must compensate AvtoVAZ for about 112.5 billion rubles (~$1.3 billion) invested during the years of absence, Sokolov said. The French automaker previously valued its Russian assets at €2.195 billion.
