Damen halts delivery of newbuilds to Russia. The Netherlands’ largest shipbuilder is suing the Dutch government for losses inflicted on its business by sanctions against Russia, a rare instance of a European company taking its grievances to court over the corporate fallout from the invasion of Ukraine. “Before the sanctions, Damen had signed contracts with Russian ship buyers, and after the invasion of Ukraine the Dutch government decided that such contracts may not be honored by the Dutch business community.” Through intermediaries in Turkey and Hong Kong, Russia reportedly bypassed the sanctions to source parts for Damen’s crab-fishing vessels. Import data suggests that at least some of these components originated from Damen or were sourced through its supply chain. The Dutch Attorney General's Office will prosecute the Dutch shipbuilding company Damen Shipyards, among the charges is violation of sanctions against Russia. Russia continues to import the ASML line of equipment. It is used by microchip manufacturers who work, in particular, with the military industry. According to Russian customs and open registers, ASML equipment was initially imported by AK Mikrotech. In July 2023, it came under Western sanctions and probably stopped importing these products.

The plant, acquired and modernized in 2009, claims to be the number one in Russia. De Heus is still active in Russia thanks to its “contribution to the main food chains.” De Heus Animal Nutrition has announced that it completely distances itself from recent statements and actions of its Russian joint venture MKorma. The Dutch animal feed company emphasizes that it no longer has any say in the company's activities in Russia. De Heus is pushing for a permanent departure from the country.

Glencore-backed Viterra is planning to exit the Russian export market and intends to announce the decision soon, according to people familiar with the matter.
