Wintershall Dea will cut some 500 jobs, or roughly a quarter of its staff, in a separation of its Russian activities. Vladimir Putin signed decrees according to which the shares of two foreign companies, namely the German Wintershall DEA and the Austrian OMV in joint ventures (JV) with Gazprom, will be forcibly sold to Russian owners. The British oil company Harbor Energy announced that it is purchasing from the German chemical concern BASF and LetterOne Mikhail Fridman all their shares in the oil and gas company Wintershall Dea. The deal will cost Harbor Energy $11.2 billion. As part of the deal, Harbor will acquire all of Wintershall's production assets, with the exception of Russian ones.

Fortum plans to use up its existing Russian stock before switching to a western supplier. The Finnish energy company Fortum filed a lawsuit in a civil court in the Netherlands against the Russian PJSC "Forward Energo" (formerly PJSC "Fortum"). Fortum has exited all Russian operations and focuses solely on its Nordic strategy. In April 2023, Russian authorities seized Fortum’s assets under Presidential Decree No. 302, resulting in Fortum's loss of shareholder rights, full financial deconsolidation, and impairment of those assets, as reflected in its Q2 2023 results. The Russian operations, now renamed Forward Energo, are fully separated from Fortum Group.

ExxonMobil has started to reduce oil production on the Sakhalin-1 project - Reuters. Exxon Mobil is negotiating to transfer its stake in the Sakhalin-1 project to another company. Gas continues to flow to Austria via the same route that it usually uses for deliveries from Russia – via Slovakia, Reuters reports, citing Eustream data. Austrian company OMV usually received 27 million cubic meters per day from Gazprom. On Saturday, November 16, 2024 deliveries stopped completely, but on Sunday, November 17, 2024 22.6 million cubic meters returned (down 17%), with the application for Monday at 22.3 million cubic meters per day and for Tuesday at around 23.6 million cubic meters.
