HeidelbergCement is a German multinational building materials company headquartered in Heidelberg, Germany. It is a DAX corporation and is one of the largest building materials companies in the world. On 1 July 2016, HeidelbergCement AG completed the acquisition of a 45% shareholding in Italcementi.
Heidelberg Materials is planning a $200 million expansion of a cement plant near St. Petersburg. The project will be implemented through the company's local subsidiary and financed in Russia. Heidelberg said the work is related to environmental and CO2 emissions requirements and "is not an investment" by the parent company. The reported move contrasts with the company's previous position. In 2022, Heidelberg Materials said it would freeze new investments in its Russian business following the invasion of Ukraine.
