Hongqi is a Chinese luxury car marque owned by the automaker FAW Car Company, itself a subsidiary of FAW Group. Hongqi was launched in 1959, making it the oldest Chinese passenger car marque. In Chinese, hongqi means "red flag." Originally, Hongqi models were only for high-ranking government officials.
The former Mercedes-Benz plant in the Moscow region will start producing cars of the Chinese luxury brand Hongqi ("Hongqi"), which originally produced cars for the political elite of China. The Chinese manufacturer of limousines for Communist Party leaders Hongqi (pronounced “Huntsy” and translated as “red banner”), which supplies the most expensive cars to Russia (maximum price 19 million rubles), intends to increase sales from 3,300 cars in 2023 to 12,000 in 2024.
