Assembly of BMW cars in Kaliningrad. Sales through a dealer network. Suspend exports to and production in Russia. Pro-Russian social media accounts are citing decade-old data to claim that German car manufacturer BMW sold thousands of luxury X7 SUVs to Russia in 2024, in violation of European Union sanctions forbidding luxury car sales to Russia after it invaded Ukraine.

According to press reports, the company is discontinuing the local production in Russia and export to the Russian market. But Rolls-Royce also has new cars for sale in Russia and claim they don't know how. The German automobile concerns Mercedes-Benz and BMW disconnected Russian dealers from the software, which was used for car maintenance. Significantly decreased revenue in 2023 vs 2022. Revenue decreased in 2024 vs 2023 by more than -20%. BMW Bank, a subsidiary of BMW Group, continues to operate in Russia.
