At 5 a.m. on February 24 2022, Russian army launched massive missile strikes on many Ukrainian cities. This was the beginning of a military invasion and a full-scale war of Russia against the people of Ukraine. The war that Russia started in 2014 with the annexation of Crimea and hostilities in the Donbass region aims to destroy the right for freedom and the existence of the Ukrainian state as such.
The Russian army is waging a war of conquest against Ukraine using aircraft, ballistic missiles and heavy weapons to destroy Ukrainian cities and kill their residents. Continuing attacks by Russian troops have resulted in thousands of civilians, including children, being murdered and wounded. Tens of thousands of houses and civilian infrastructure facilities have been destroyed throughout Ukraine, which forced over 10 million people to leave their homes and move elsewhere. Many large cities such as Mariupol, Chernihiv and Sumy have been sieged without the possibility of replenishing food and medicine supplies, which resulted in starvation and thousands of deaths among civilians. The world community qualifies the brutal actions of the Russian army as war crimes and genocide.
76 years after the end of the Second World War, an assault on territories of a European sovereign state is taking place again fueled by the deceitful state propaganda of the aggressor country. Having chosen the path of freedom and democracy, Ukraine is waging a heroic struggle not only for its own future but also for the future of Europe and the entire free world. The goal of the Russian aggression is not only a complete conquest of Ukraine but also a subsequent expansion to other European countries, which may lead to another world war. The people of Ukraine call on the entire free world to unite and resist the aggressor to prevent a change in the world order and a global catastrophe.
