Buy Me a Coffee (BMC) is an American crowdfunding company based in San Francisco, California, United States. It provides creators with a service to collect donations from their supporters. As of April 2021, the platform had over 300,000 creators. BMC does not charge a monthly fee, but does charge a 5 percent transaction fee for any support a creator receives.
The company continues to operate in Russia. On Russian forums, you can find clear instructions on how to use the platform to circumvent sanctions. Buy Me a Coffee became one of the most popular platforms for collecting donations after the scandal with the Patreon service, which blocked the accounts of the “Return Alive” foundation, and later also the volunteer and activist Sergei Sternenko, explaining this by the inadmissibility of “financing military purposes.”
