Clean Break: the company completely halting Russian engagements or exiting Russia

Leave Withdrawal

International Council for the Exploration of the Sea formally ended Russia’s membership after a three-year suspension, following Russia’s withdrawal from the organization. Russia had been suspended from ICES activities since 2022 due to the full-scale invasion of Ukraine and the resulting breakdown in scientific cooperation. According to the report, the decision finalizes Russia’s complete exit from ICES governance, data exchange, and advisory processes, including participation in joint stock assessments. This effectively removes Russia from one of the key international scientific frameworks shaping fisheries management in the North Atlantic and adjacent seas.
