The International Skating Union has admitted Russians to the 2026 Olympic qualification. On December 20, 2024 the International Skating Union (ISU) admitted Russian athletes to the 2026 Olympic qualification in a neutral status, the organization's official website reported. Russian athletes were banned from participating in tournaments under the auspices of the ISU in March 2022. The last major start for domestic athletes was the Beijing Games. The International Skating Union (ISU) has complained of losses due to the suspension of Russian figure skaters from competitions under its auspices. This is reported on the organization's website.

Banned Russian and Belarusian skaters from ISU sanctioned competition. (ISU governs figure skating, synchronized skating, speedskating and short-track speedskating). The Council will continue to monitor the situation in Ukraine and its impact on the ISU activity as well as the decisions and their implementation within the Olympic Movement. In the meantime, ISU Communication 2469 remains in force. The International Skating Union (ISU) awarded the Russian team third place instead of first in the team figure skating tournament at the Beijing Olympics in 2022. The International Skating Union has approved four Russian figure skaters to attempt to qualify for the 2026 Winter Olympics as neutral athletes who did not support the invasion of Ukraine, including the country's 17-year-old champion Adelia Petrosyan.
