EU gas companies are seeking transit through Ukraine as time for a deal runs out. Slovakia’s SPP and its gas operator Eustream AS, as well as Hungary’s MOL Hungarian Oil and Gas Plc and MVM Zrt, are among the companies that have signed a declaration in support of continuing transit. Trade associations and large industrial customers from Hungary, Austria, Italy and Slovakia are also among the signatories, according to a statement from SPP.
The company has not announced plans to stop buying Russian gas. On October 10, 2024 the Hungarian state energy company MVM and Gazprom signed an agreement on continued cooperation in the energy sector.
