SEFE Securing Energy for Europe GmbH, a company registered in Berlin, Germany, is headquarters of a diversified conglomerate, comprises 40 entities operating in more than 20 countries in Europe, Asia and North America.
The nationalized German company Sefe is increasingly purchasing LNG from Russia, thereby pumping pennies into Putin’s military treasury. Possibly, it also violated EU sanctions. The German Ministry of Economics has called on the nationalized company SEFE to terminate its long-term contract for the supply of liquefied natural gas from Russia's Yamal. One way to terminate the agreement could be by declaring force majeure.
Gas from Russia will enter Germany via Oman. The German SEFE (Gazprom Germania), which was nationalized from Gazprom in Germany in April 2022, and Oman LNG have agreed to supply LNG from 2026 for the supply of 400 thousand tons of LNG (550 million m3 of gas) per year. GAIL (India) Ltd settled a USD 1.817 billion claim against former Gazprom unit, now SEFE, for USD 285 million. The settlement addressed LNG non-delivery under a long-term contract. Western sanctions on Russia affected supply. SEFE claimed force majeure but resumed partial deliveries by 2023.
