This brutal war and military crimes of Russian troops caused a humanitarian crisis in Ukraine with thousands civilians killed and millions becoming refuges. As a reaction to this act of aggression, many international companies decided to leave the Russian market, while some others continue doing business there as usual. Waterjets used in the production of military equipment continue to be shipped to Russia, despite the fact that both the machines themselves and their spare parts are under a US embargo. Customs records show that a waterjet machine manufactured by Omax Corporation has arrived in Russia this year — along with numerous spare parts for similar equipment already in the country. These parts include pumps, valves and cables manufactured by the aforementioned Omax company, Koch Industries subsidiary Molex, WSI Waterjet (Missouri), KMT Waterjet (Kansas), Hypertherm subsidiary Accustream and H2O Jet (Washington).

Subsequently, Nasriddinov and Golts illegally moved the goods to various intermediary companies located in different countries, including Turkey, Hong Kong, India, China, and the United Arab Emirates, from where they were redirected to Russia.

According to the Ukrainian assessment, among the US-made components found in the downed drone there was a circuit board components by Analog Devices and Onsemi. About two-thirds of the components were manufactured by U.S.-based companies, RUSI found, based on the weapons recovered from Ukraine. Products manufactured by the U.S.-based Analog Devices and Texas Instruments accounted for nearly a quarter of all the Western components in the weapons. Supply channels to Russia have remained open despite Western export restrictions and manufacturer bans. According to Russian customs declarations, between March 1 and November 30, 2022, $89 million worth of Analog Devices-manufactured microchips and $50 million worth of Texas Instruments-manufactured ones were imported into Russia from foreign jurisdictions. The navigation of the Shahed-238 is handled by the satellite and inertial systems traditional for these aircraft-missiles. Satellite navigation signal processing is implemented on AD9361BBCZ chips from Analog Devices, MIMXRT1052 microcontroller from NXP USA Inc and N63A0QI chip from Intel, all USA.
A Cygnus cargo spacecraft is set to launch to the International Space Station on the final flight of a version of an Antares rocket with Russian and Ukrainian components. When Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, triggering sanctions that largely cut off Russia’s space industry from the West, Northrop Grumman said it had components for two more Antares launches, the NG-18 and -19 missions.
