Dutch mobile operator Veon may separate its assets in Russia from the wider company. Dutch telecoms operator Veon Ltd said it was seeking to sell its Russian operations, which make up more than half of its revenue and earnings. At the end of January 2023 Russia ministries oppose Veon plans to sell Russian mobile business. The transaction does not provide for any buy-back arrangements and signifies a complete exit from the Russian market for VEON. Changes are not yet reflected in the official EGRUL register. Veon warned Ukraine against confiscating Kyivstar: It will destroy the country’s reputation. Rumors about the possibility of Kyivstar's confiscation sent shares of its parent company crashing down.

Polymetal plans to sell russian assets to avert sanctions risk. The company confirmed it is considering moving its parent company’s domicile and primary listing, currently in Jersey and London respectively, to “Russia-friendly” Kazakhstan. "In light of recent developments, and in the interests of preserving shareholder value, the board and the special committee have decided to consider all possible options available for divestment of JSC Polymetal and its subsidiaries," Polymetal International said in a statement. Precious metals producer Polymetal International has agreed to sell its Russian assets to a Siberian gold miner for about $3.7 billion.

Significant financial flexibility maintained. Wintershall Dea Joint Ventures in Russia economically expropriated. Wintershall Dea intends to fully exit Russia in an orderly manner complying with all applicable legal obligations. German Wintershall Dea completely wrote off its share in the Nord Stream operator due to the impossibility of estimating the terms and costs of restoring the damaged gas pipeline against the background of geopolitics, the company's report says. Wintershall Dea will cut some 500 jobs, or roughly a quarter of its staff, in a separation of its Russian activities. Vladimir Putin signed decrees according to which the shares of two foreign companies, namely the German Wintershall DEA and the Austrian OMV in joint ventures (JV) with Gazprom, will be forcibly sold to Russian owners. The British oil company Harbor Energy announced that it is purchasing from the German chemical concern BASF and LetterOne Mikhail Fridman all their shares in the oil and gas company Wintershall Dea. The deal will cost Harbor Energy $11.2 billion. As part of the deal, Harbor will acquire all of Wintershall's production assets, with the exception of Russian ones.

Henkel agreed to sell business in Russia to local investors for 54 billion rubles. The consortium that acquires the Henkel business activities in Russia includes Augment Investments, Kismet Capital Group and Elbrus Services. All acquirers have established and long-standing business relationships in Western countries and are not subject to EU or US sanctions.The agreed purchase price amounts to 54 billion rubles, which corresponds to around 600 million euros. Arconic Corp (ARNC.N) sold its Russian operations to the majority owner of state-backed metals company VSMPO-AVISMA (VSMO.MM) for cash proceeds of $230 million, the U.S. aluminum products maker said on Tuesday. Arconic to book $304M loss on sale of Russian operations.

Fortum plans to use up its existing Russian stock before switching to a western supplier. The Finnish energy company Fortum filed a lawsuit in a civil court in the Netherlands against the Russian PJSC "Forward Energo" (formerly PJSC "Fortum"). Fortum has exited all Russian operations and focuses solely on its Nordic strategy. In April 2023, Russian authorities seized Fortum’s assets under Presidential Decree No. 302, resulting in Fortum's loss of shareholder rights, full financial deconsolidation, and impairment of those assets, as reflected in its Q2 2023 results. The Russian operations, now renamed Forward Energo, are fully separated from Fortum Group.

The company promised to suspend all imports and exports of its products into and out of Russia, and to stop all media and advertising spendings. Unilever also promised not to invest any further capital into the country nor to get profit from its presence in Russia. Unilever "will continue to supply essential food and hygiene products made in Russia to people in the country". Unilever flags risk it may have to halt Russia operations. As we see in 2023 - the company didn't met it promises, as its local entity in Russia (Unilever Rus LLC or ООО "Юнилевер Русь", tax id 7705183476) generated almost the same volume of local revenue in 2022 (RUB 84.9bn) vs RUB 86bn in 2021 or just 2% less. At the same time, its net profit increased from RUB 4.9bn to RUB 9.2bn or +91%! Also, due to this significant volume of profit, it was able to increase the local capital to RUB 34.5bn in 2022 from RUB 25.3bn in 2021 or +37%. It means that in fact the company reinvested the profit which is equal to investment of the new capital in the country. Moreover, the company will be obliged to pay profit tax (in addition to VAT, taxes from salary and other taxes) and indirectly support Russia's war machine in such a way. Unilever Rus LLC also paid the equivalent of $331mn of taxes in 2021 (and minimum the same amount in 2022 based on their financials). The NACP added Unilever to the list of “International Sponsors of War”. Decreased revenue in 2023 vs 2022. Unilever sale is approved by the russian government. The buyer of the Russian business of the transnational holding Unilever, headquartered in London, was the Arnest Group. Unilever has closed a deal to sell its business in Russia and Belarus to Alexey Sagal's Arnest Group. The subject of the deal was the company's assets, including four production sites in Yekaterinburg, Omsk, St. Petersburg and Tula, according to a press release received by Kommersant. The amount of the deal was not disclosed. However, the Russian business of the international holding company leaving the country, taking into account the discount, was previously valued at 35-40 billion rubles (~€520mn). The British conglomerate Unilever, which produces household chemicals and food products, announced its exit from the Russian market. "Today (on Oct 10, 2024), Unilever completed the sale of its Russian subsidiary, Arnest Group, to a Russian manufacturer of perfumes, cosmetics and household goods," Schumacher noted. 09.10.2024: ARNEST MANAGEMENT LLC becomes the new founder of the organization. Eastnine to Sell its Stake in Russian Fashion Retailer Melon Fashion Group to Sistema for EUR193 Mln. AFK Sistema refused to buy Melon Fashion Group. Eastnine Signs Nearly RUB17 Billion Deal to Exit Russian Fashion Retailer Melon. Eastnine to sell a 36% stake in Zarina and Love Republic to a Russian company. Swedish Eastnine AB has signed an agreement on the sale of about 36% of the fashion retailer Melon Fashion Group (MFG; manages clothing stores Sela, Zarina, Love Republic) to Russia's GEM Invest LLC. According to a press release on the Eastnine website, the purchase price of the stake is approximately RUB 15.6 billion. The transaction is expected to be completed within two weeks. Swedish Eastnine sold a stake in Russian MFG for 15.6 billion rubles.

Sold local business on 15/11/2022. No longer provide engineering services to Russian LNG developers. Baker Hughes Announces Local Management Buyout of its Oilfield Services Business in Russia. But in January 2023 Baker Hughes sent Oil&Gas drilling equipment to Russia from Scotland. But the company still continues exporting to Russia months after calls for trading to cease.

Sold Russian assets to local management and exit completely

The Swedish Ingka Group, which owns the IKEA chain of furniture and home goods stores and Mega shopping centers, has started looking for buyers for its real estate in Russia. The owner of IKEA has found a buyer for the remains of his assets in Russia (14 shopping centers). 10.2023: SIBFINANCE LLC becomes the new founder of the organization. CEO Dolf van den Brink said Heineken was aiming to sell the Russian operations, which still employ around 1,800 people, in the first half of this year – but suggested the process could take longer than initially thought. 28.06.2022: Nokian Tyres initiated ‘controlled exit’ from Russia. Nokian Tyres aims for Q3 decision on new plant to replace Russia production. Nokian Tyres plan to open a new factory in Romania following Russian exit. 16.03.2023: Nokian Tyres closed the sale of Russian operations and received EUR285m from PJSC Tatneft. The Government Commission for Control over the Implementation of Foreign Investments approved the purchase by Tatneft of the enterprises of the Finnish tire manufacturer Nokian Tires in Russia. The signing of the deal was announced on October 28, 2022. 16.03.2023: Nokian Tyres closed the sale of Russian operations and received EUR285m from PJSC Tatneft.

Tetra Pak has reached an agreement to divest its Russian business to local management, with the intention of enabling business continuity for its customers, minimizing the impact on employees, and continuing to support consumers’ access to essential food. LLC in Russia was sold.
